Dr Koorosh Aslansefat from the Responsible AI Group recently visited several leading research institutions in Switzerland, including the University of Zurich, ETH Zurich, and the University of Bern. These visits aimed to explore collaborative opportunities and further advance cutting-edge AI technologies.
In Zurich, Dr Aslansefat had insightful discussions with Dr Manuel Günther on expanding technologies like SafeML and SMILE for open set classification algorithms. They also explored how fairness evaluation algorithms, pioneered by the University of Hull, could be adapted for federated learning systems, ensuring equitable outcomes across distributed networks.
During his visit to the University of Bern, Dr Aslansefat met with Professor Andreas Sonderegger to discuss upcoming EU research proposals. Their conversation focused on how socio-technical aspects of machine learning can be integrated into future AI systems, emphasising the importance of responsible and ethical AI development.
These visits reflect the Responsible AI Group’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and ensuring that AI research remains inclusive, fair, and aligned with societal needs.
