Dr Muhammad Khalid is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in the School of Digital & Physical Sciences at the University of Hull, where his research and teaching focus on Deep Reinforcement Learning, Trusted AI, Autonomy, the Internet of Things, and Smart Cities.
Before joining Hull, Khalid was a Research Fellow at the University of Lincoln, where he worked on the MeSAPro project, ensuring robot autonomy and safety through human-robot interaction for robots used in strawberry harvesting. He completed his PhD at Northumbria University in 2020, researching autonomous parking in intelligent smart cities.
At Hull, Khalid leads the School's Industrial Placement and Year Abroad programme and serves as Deputy REF Coordinator, alongside supervising PhD students and holding external research funding. He teaches across Levels 4 to 7, including Programming, Robotics, and Data Analysis and Visualisation.
